Keep Prayers to Your Abusive Sky Puppet
Magical thinking is a mental disorder.
Magical thinking is a mental disorder. It compels people to believe in things that do not exist. It colludes with religion's directive to deny the data coming to you through your human senses which are designed to deliver data to you, the human.
-Who has senses.
It manipulates humans to cope with the horrors of reality by unleashing its wack-a-doodle bestie, hope.
Hope is useless. It causes inertia.
Hope's trickery is that it allows lazy, mean, cruel, passive, selfish, inhumane, inept, scaredy-cat people to stand by silently... passively and "hope" something gets better. Watch out for the "hopers." Their grand gesture is hand wringing, but only when someone is watching. Or, making a tsk, tsk, tsk tooth sound while muttering that "someone should do something." But only when someone is close enough to hear.
Magical thinking freezes people. They look like Stepford Citizens of various stripes: hive mind delivering a thank you cards. But never showing up when you need a ride to chemo, or a babysitter while you go meet with the funeral director. They complain about government but never read one bill in their legislature, or read the bio of one school board candidate BEFORE the candidate's book-burning ass hits the seat.
The Stepford women LOVE to tell younger women how to dress, "what ladies do," and what the circumference of their ass should be at a young age”, without ever registering that pushing sizeism (eugenics) on to the next generation of women is Mrs. Stepford Citizen's internalized misogyny.
Yep. All of this. Yum.
One of the best front row seats to the Stepford Citizens Show is the episode where they go crazy when their adult children do Ancestry and find out what a bunch of whores their families have been. Even some of the women. I once witnessed an old red had dude in his hateful 80’s, with a PHD in a rigid science poo-poo Ancestry because his friend got hers back and it said her husband was her brother. Umm… “Half-brother?” I asked. He lost his shit and said genetic testing was bunch of crap. My dinner companion and I looked at each other wondering which of us should tell him about the birds and the bees, that his rigid Lutheran mid-western lie kkkult and lie kkkulture had avoided. Oy.
Via Ancestry… poof… all of the selective memory and magical thinking is disrupted by science. By facts. By evidence.
Like the evidence that their... what is the word for that thing they have been praying to for ions... through Holy Wars, torture, and the destruction of humans... oh yeah, "father god" IS ABUSIVE. No mental connection that heir sky puppet does those things: abuse.
Pass.
Some of us have already survived abusive fathers, uncles, grandfathers, coaches, bosses, teachers, and leaders.
Some of us have functioning brains.
Some of us are NOT INTERESTED IN SPERM WARS where men exterminate children over whose sperm made chosen people in some bullshit story from some ancient, imaginary time.
For the record, if, today, you ask the 5 sibling from one household about their childhood, you get 5 different stories.
So the idea that any "holy" book is truth is, well, magical thinking on steroids multiplied, through time, by patriarchy and the unwavering the need to control others due to power addiction.
But some people like it. Some people like deferring responsibility and consciousness to some sky puppet. Some people enjoy the selective power distribution of sky puppet's benevolence to them while others get away with stealing money from a charity for kids with cancer and with a pass on human trafficking.
Some people make excuses for a sky puppet who allows decent people to have cancer while evil-doers threaten the entire world with their greed, vanity and narcissism.
Go ahead. Hope and pray.
I, however, will imagine that some lifetime or another, you are finally successful at praying your stupid away.
